Standardbred Excellence

Promoting Performance Standardbreds

What is "Standardbred Excellence"?

Standardbred Excellence is striving for distinction within all breeds in all disciplines of competition.  Often in the equine world, Standardbreds are believed to be lesser horses that are only suited for racing or backyard pleasure riding.

This is simply not true.

Standardbreds are highly versatile and well suited for a variety of equine pursuits.  Standardbreds can compete successfully in dressage, jumping, foxhunting, eventing, barrel racing, hunter/jumpers and in-hand just to name a few.

Elizabeth Tewksbury has been around the breed for many years.  Her grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather bred and raced Standardbreds throughout the East for nearly the last 100 years.  Since her riding career began in 1985, Elizabeth has mostly ridden Morgans, with a few Standardbreds here and there.

It was not until she was given a Standardbred mare in 2003 that Elizabeth began to realize what unsung talent this breed possesses.  Now she has made it her dream to successfully campaign her Standardbred to the highest levels of both dressage and eventing, to help prove to the world that Standardbreds are an EXCELLENT choice as a sport performance horse.
